Developed by Valve Corporation, Portal 2 is a first-person Action puzzle-platform video game, composed of a series of puzzles that must be resolved through teleportation, using the “portal gun”, to move the player’s character and simple objects. Portal 2 was released on 19th April 2011 as the sequel to the critically-acclaimed 2007 video game Portal.
The game was released by Valve through Steam for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X, while the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and retail Windows/OS X versions of the game are distributed by Electronic Arts. It has been chosen by game developers award The Game of the Year 2010 and also took the Innovation and Best Game Design awards.
GLaDOS, a rampant artificially intelligent computer, and the rest of the Aperture Science facility has fallen into disrepair, when the player returns as the human Chell, having been in stasis for several hundred years. While Chell is awakened by the bumbling Wheatley, one of GLaDOS’s personality cores, inadvertently wakes GLaDOS. The creature is immediately angry at Chell’s return and begins testing her again through numerous chambers.
The game also includes a two-player co-operative mode. Portal 2 received universal praise from reviewers, resulting in a accumulative average score of 95 out of 100 according to review aggregator Metacritic.
